How to export applicants from Workable to CSV
Workable has no export button on a job's candidate list. The applicant export is a report, the Candidate details report, and it is available on every plan including the free one. It gives you one row per candidate with the contact columns you choose, delivered by email as a CSV.
Steps
- Click Reports in the navigation bar.
- Open the Candidate details report.
- Use the drop-downs above the table to narrow it. Set the timeframe to cover the posting (the date filter is the candidate's creation date by default) and, if your report centre offers it, filter to the job. Workable is running two report designs at the moment; in the newer one the filter is added with Add filter and grouped under Candidate, Job and Date.
- Hover over the table and click Columns. Make sure candidate name, email, phone number, creation date and job stage are ticked. Untick what you do not need; fewer columns make a smaller file.
- Click Download CSV. Workable emails the file within a few moments rather than downloading it directly.
Who can run it: almost anyone with recruiting access, limited to the jobs they can see. Users with Limited access see no reports at all, and if your account uses custom roles the Reports page may be switched off for hiring managers; ask an admin to run it or to grant the permission.
What to know about the file
- The report refreshes every hour and a half, so applicants from the last hour may be missing. Run it again later if the count looks short.
- Candidates with several tags or application answers get them in one cell separated by a vertical bar. That does not affect the contact columns.
- Custom fields come out as their own columns, which is fine; ApplySift ignores what it does not need.
What the export does not include
Résumés and files. Workable's help centre says so directly: attachments are only available through a full data export requested from support, or through the API. For fraud screening you do not need them; the name, email and phone columns carry the strongest signals.
Then
Upload the file to ApplySift. The column names in the Candidate details report are descriptive ("Candidate name", "Candidate phone number" and so on) and are recognised; if a column is ambiguous ApplySift shows the headers and asks you to confirm which is which before scoring.
