How to export candidates from Indeed to CSV

If you hire through Indeed's own employer dashboard rather than an ATS, there is a built-in Export Candidates option on the Candidates tab. It produces a CSV directly. Indeed gates it tightly, though, and the file has a quirk that matters for fraud screening.

Who can export

The option is greyed out unless all of these hold, per Indeed's help page:

If you do not clear the spend threshold, Indeed offers no export, and copying from the screen is the only route. If your Indeed jobs feed an ATS, export from the ATS instead; the other guides cover the common ones.

Steps

  1. Sign in and open the Candidates tab.
  2. Filter the list to one job.
  3. Select the candidates you want. Selecting more than 200 switches the export to every candidate for that job (or for every open and paused job, if all jobs are selected), which for screening is what you want.
  4. Open the Export Candidates drop-down and choose all or selected.
  5. The CSV downloads to your computer.

Limits

The relay-email caveat

Indeed usually gives employers a relay address ending in indeedemail.com rather than the candidate's own address. Each relay is unique to the candidate, so ApplySift's shared-mailbox and throwaway-domain signals cannot see anything in those rows. The phone signals still work in full, and phone is where most of the evidence is: in one pool of 1,455 applicants to a remote role, 60% of numbers sat in VOIP wholesaler blocks. Where a candidate's real address is present, the email signals apply as usual.

Then

Upload the CSV to ApplySift. Indeed does not publish the column headers of the export, so ApplySift reads them and asks you to confirm which is email, phone and name if it is unsure. Emailing the header row (first line only) to hello@applysift.com gets the layout recognised automatically.
