ApplySift

The VOIP wholesaler carriers

When a reverse lookup on an applicant's phone number returns a name you have never heard of, it is usually one of these. They are the carriers that provision numbers by API to VOIP platforms, dialers and apps rather than selling phone lines to people. Between them they hold 437,934 of the 992,404 thousands-blocks assigned in North America, about 44% of the blocks in the record, plus thousands of whole exchanges.

Each page says what the company is, how its name appears in the public record, how many numbers it holds and where, and what to make of one on an application. The counts are from NANPA's October 2026 reports.

Not on the list

Google Voice numbers are held by Bandwidth and other carriers rather than by Google, so they appear under those names. Mobile carriers (T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon Wireless), cable companies other than Comcast, and the regional landline companies are ordinary carriers, and a number in their blocks reads as a carrier number. ApplySift's signals page explains how the classes are weighted.
